Yoga has been my passion for over 5 years, and I am completely obsessed. From day one I've loved the way it makes me feel. I was even able to get back into splits after... well let's just say that I danced from age 3 through high school, but hadn't done anything since. (We don't need to discuss how long ago that was ;-) I love how inspiring, and motivating it is, and I have always wanted to help others feel the way it makes me feel.
One thing that I absolutely loved, as I went through my Yoga Teacher Training (YTT), is that yoga is a very faithful practice, and it is more than just poses and flowing. It is a way of living, so that you are being respectful, caring, and an all around good human being. Which made me love it even more.
Mission statements – Yoga is for EVERYONE! Whether you are flexible, or super stiff, you can do yoga. Whether you are 4 or 104, you can do yoga. There are adjustments and options for every pose so that every level can participate. The only thing holding you back is You.

Hello!
I’m Chrissy! I moved to Arizona 7 years ago from New Hampshire. Literally the BEST decision I have ever made. My yoga journey started 20 years ago, practicing Vinyasa on/off. Roughly 13 years ago I was introduced to hot yoga, better known as Bikram. I really connected to the practice and attribute it as a HUGE part of saving my life. Shortly after moving to Arizona I became a certified yoga teacher. In addition to teaching Bikram yoga, I’ve become certified in teaching Yin, HIIT, and Cycle. All of the modalities brings me the greatest joy. It allows me to connect with myself. It allows me the opportunity to meet others. It allows me to be a part of someone else’s journey to health and well-being. Look forward to seeing you on your mat!
Born and raised in California, I joined the Navy at 20 and was stationed in Edzell, Scotland where I met my future husband, Terry. We have three children and 6 grandchildren. Fitness and healthy living have always been a big part of my life.
I believe yoga is not just for the young or very fit. My belief in the abilities of everyone at any age compels me to offer fun classes that break through the glass ceiling of “old” age. Yoga isn’t about handstands and fancy balancing poses, although they are fun and challenging. Overall health, both physically and mentally, is at the core of my yoga instruction. During my 200 hour teacher training and advanced 300 hour training I learned that the philosophies of yoga along with a consistent asana practice, were keys to maintaining a healthy, lively, vibrant life. My goal is to share the benefits and love of yoga with others.
I offer a variety of classes based on a student’s abilities and requirements (chair, vinyasa, gentle, yin and all levels). A mentor once said to “give them what they want, slip in what they need”; that is my goal with every class. Making it fun at the same time is just icing on the cake.
My yoga journey started when I decided to try Rodney Yee's yoga dvd's over 15 years ago! I loved how strong and flexible I felt very quickly. When I first moved here over 10 years ago, I walked into my first hot yoga studio and fell in love with Bikram Yoga. I jumped at the chance to train at a local studio in 2018 and recieved my first certification - 200 hrs Hot Yoga 26:2 series. Soon I craved a style of yoga that would allow me to care for my horses in the hot Arizona summers without feeling so depleted. I found myself gravitating toward the peaceful streching of Yin Yoga. I recieved my Yin certification online during the pandemic and have throughoughly enjoyed teaching and taking Yin ever since! My final and true yoga love just might be Yoga Nidra, a form of restorative yoga that is well...deeply restorative! I received my 100 hours cert this year and I will soon take the advanced training.
My husband and I live in Litchfield Park with 3 horses: Barb, Gracie, and Jesse, and our donkey Frank (he knows he is the favorite), 2 retired K-9's, and an occasional barn cat or two. I am so grateful to be part of the Yoga Ascension family and I very much look forward to seeing you in class!
I grew up in Ohio and spent most of my adult life in WI before arriving in beautiful AZ. My professional careers include a registered nurse in the OR, flight attendant for American Airlines, and elementary education. While I thoroughly enjoyed each of those, I’ve truly found what my soul loves in sharing yoga After over 20 years of practice, i achieved my certification in 2018.
Every practice I’m blessed to guide will include breath, movement, flow & stillness, all put to music. As a former nurse, emphasis will be provided for proper & safe alignment. From this alignment, we’ll find depth, strength, and flexibility in each posture appropriate for each individual body. As we flow in vinyasa, or hold in yin, or even release in restorative, we’ll always have that moment to recognize the pause; the place where breath & movement come together. Real yoga is often beyond what you can see. More important than what a pose looks like is how it feels for you. I endeavor to help you find that feeling.
"In 2018, I was searching for a way to find balance in my body, mind and soul and a way to relieve myself of the baggage I found myself with. I found my first consistent yoga practice at the gym, where I felt too uncomfortable to be in the weight room.
Certainly being in an enclosed room stretching would be more comfortable... or so I had thought. What I experienced that day was far from comfortable but I learned more about myself and enjoyed the experience of trying something I'd always wanted to. I was hooked on the feeling of bliss and serenity that followed me to every class and felt empowered in the poses, as much as I struggled through them at first.
I was shocked at the amount of strength and flexibility needed for what I thought would be a simple stretch based mode of fitness. I was more shocked when I found my body and mindset changing under the influence of yoga. I felt drawn to the yogic philosophy and wanted to deepen my practice, so I began seeking out a Yoga Teacher Training program. When I began the program, I never imagined I would be pursuing Yoga as my full time passion/career, but the Universe has guided me to my path."
